Colt® Five Star® FCE HSS Brad Point Bits Provide cleaner exit holes. Colt® Five Star® bits cut their way through the work piece before the main cutters reach the surface. Splintering is avoided, particularly in laminated materials. Reduced Chip Burn with the exclusive TwinLand® flute design prevents chips from becoming trapped between the bit and the hole's surface, which also greatly reduces the risk of overheating and burning. Drill six times faster with the precision-ground cutting edges of the Five Star's® center point cuts quickly and easily into the work piece, allowing the main cutting edges to work more freely, and therefore faster.  In addition, the flute on Colt® Five Star® bits is set at a 25-degree angle, rather than the 30-to-40-degree found on most conventional bits, which means wood chips are dispersed easier and faster, speeding drilling and limiting chip burn. Manufactured, in Germany, from HSS M2 Steel and diamond ground, leaving them sharper than any carbide tipped alternative, and with a longer drilling life than other bits made from HSS steel. The benefits are most notable when drilling pen blanks in such exotic woods as ebony, cocobolo, rosewood and blackwood.
