Create sturdy, true cabinet shelfing with the Milescraft® CabinetMate™. This light-weight, easy to use jig allows you to drill up to eleven holes evenly spaced 32mm a part in one setting. Whether creating cabinets from scratch or updating existing cabinets, this jig helps you get the job done fast and accurately. The jig is designed for use with both face-frame and frameless cabinets.
The CabinetMate™ shelf pin jig has a rigid main body, indexing pins, and a self-centering, spring-loaded drill bit. The custom spring-loaded-brad point drill bit allows the holes you drill to self-center with the holes on the main body. This bit is pre-set to bore a crisp hole with consistent depth for a perfect fitting shelf pin. The CabinetMate™ also comes with a built-in closed storage compartment for your bit and indexing pins.
The CabinetMate™ allows you to accurately drill eleven holes, evenly spaced at 32mm apart, in just one setting. This innovative tool can be used on cabinet sides before assembly, already assembled cabinets and face-frame or frameless cabinets. A stand-out feature of the CabinetMate™ is that it also allows you to mark the locations for Euro-style hinges. This tool comes with the 1/4″ self-centering drill bit. *Please note that before you use the ShelfPinBit™, you will want to fully tighten the set screw. Also, be sure that when loosening the set screw on the ShelfPinBit™, you do not loosen it too much, as the pressure from the spring will make the bit come apart.

this jig is straight forward easy enough for any one to use. the self centering bit does a good job centering the hole but does not drill holes deep enough and leaves a sloppy hole. have to clean holes out with forstner bit.
This is an incredibly easy to use, well-thought out product and — once you’ve used it — it’s an indispensable tool for anyone building cabinets with adjustable shelves!
However, an important caution is that it comes ONLY with the 1/4″ bit, NOT the also referenced 5mm bit. That’s the only reason I’ve knocked off one rating star.
At $11 each, it does make sense to include only one of these two bits in the package to keep the price down, and Milescraft has simply chosen the 1/4″ bit, likely because its market research shows 1/4″ is more popular overall than 5mm.
On the other hand, 5mm seems to be at least equally popular in some areas, so Milescraft’s choice to offer only one SKU with an included 1/4″ bit has the unfortunate consequence of forcing users who need only the 5mm bit to buy that bit separately after already having paid for a 1/4″ bit they’ll likely never use. That does seem to impose an unfair penalty for 5mm-only users.
I believe it would make a lot of sense if Milescraft would re-think its marketing decision on all this and — instead — offer either:
1. This same template under two SKUs, one each for an included 1/4″ bit or a 5mm bit (and perhaps even a 3rd SKU with both bits included for those who really do need both sizes); or
2. This same product as a single SKU at an even lower price, but without including either bit (but clearly state so on the package front!) so the customer can choose whichever bit is appropriate for their intended use.
Thank you for your detailed review! To clarify, Milescraft does offer two SKUs. The #1316 CabinetMate includes a 1/4″ shelf pin bit and model #1366 CabinetMate includes a 5mm bit.
Rugged construction sees frequent use. Good product.
