I love this tool. I can’t believe how much I use it. It’s so damn convenient and drills perfectly straight. Well made, sturdy, and handy. Can’t beat it for $30. Must own tool!!!

    Great tool for the price.

What is the largest diameter hole saw one can use to make a 45º angle cut with the DrillMate?

For a 45° angle cut, the largest hole saw that can be used is 1-5/8″.

What is the best way to drill large holes with the DrillMate?

If you are using a large diameter bit, for safety and accuracy it is recommended to clamp the jig.

Can the 1318 drill guide head be swapped out for the drill holder of the 1368 DrillMate?

Yes, the guide heads can be swapped.

What are the differences between the 1318 DrillMate and 1368 DrillMate?

There are a few differences between the two DrillMates. The main difference is how the drill attaches to the unit. The drill guide head on the 1318 DrillMate is compatible with 3/8” and ½” drills and the drill chuck connects to the shaft of the DrillMate. Whereas 1368 accommodates drills with a 43mm collar and this mounts to the head, this unit does not have a chuck and uses the drills chuck instead. Secondly, the 1368 guide head can be locked with the s-knob; 1318 does not have this feature.

To use the #1368 you must have a drill with a 43mm collar, as shown below.

What type of grease can be used to lubricate the guide bars of the DrillMate?

Common lithium grease.

Why isn't my bit penetrating the wood?

If you are trying to go through thicker material, the spring needs to be removed as the spring limits the travel.

Why are the holes slightly off angle when using a Forstner bit with the DrillMate?

When using the DrillMate with a Forstner bit or boring bit, you will need to remove the spring to reach proper drilling depth.
